Director's Cut - Jonah 2

Jesus said in Matthew 12, "behold, one greater than Jonah is here."

Ephesians 2:4 says, "But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ."

In Jonah 2:2, After experiencing the deep and while entombed (but alive) in a great fish Jonah cries, "I called out to the Lord, out of my distress and he answered me."

Jonah calls out from the deep and has assurance of his deliverance!  God answered Jonah's cry!  God has provided a way out of sin and its consequences.  He's provided a way out of bondage to sin and a way back to him when we rebel.

Are you experiencing the deep?  Do you feel the tumult of the deep and do you feel separated from his peace and kindness and love?  If so, CALL OUT TO HIM!  He's waiting, He wants to hear from you

Perhaps you've experienced the deep before and you seem to find your way back there.  Regarding our battle against sin, we further idolize our sin if we focus on our struggle with it instead of his mercy towards us in the gospel.  If you are struggling in the deep, look to Jesus!

Consider him so that you will not grow weary and lose heart! (Hebrews 12:3)
