WHAT HAPPENED THE DAY JESUS DIED

1. Simon from Cyrene (vs. 32) – Compelled to walk with Jesus, then chose to walk with Jesus

Mark 15:21 – “Simon of Cyrene was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus.”

Romans 16:13 – “Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord; also his mother, who has been a mother to me as well.”

2. A Roman Executioner (vs. 45-54) – Required to kill Jesus, then chose to look on Jesus and praise Him as God

Mark 15:39 – “the centurion stood facing him [and] saw that in this way he breathed his last”

Luke 23:47 – “Now when the centurion saw what had taken place, he praised God, saying, “Certainly this man was innocent!”

3. Joseph of Arimathea (vs. 57-60) – Distanced himself when Jesus was on trial, then went publicly to Jesus at His death

4. Mary Magdalene (vs. 61) – rescued by Jesus, faithful to Jesus and forever rewarded by Jesus
