In Hebrews 7, the author relies on the story of Melchizedek to explain the unique role of Jesus and how he successfully fulfills the role of both our True King and as our final High Priest. Melchizedek first shows up in Genesis 14, then in Psalm 110, and finally in Hebrews 5-7. But Hebrews 7 is like swimming in the deep end of the ocean, requiring a broad knowledge of the Old Testament. But the reward is worth the effort.
