1. High Priest of Israel (1-4)

 His duty

- act on behalf of men in relation to God

- offer gifts & sacrifices for sins

His qualifications

- chosen from among men

- called by God

- compassionate

His limitations

- sinful himself

- subject to death

2. Jesus Christ, His Fitness as High Priest (5-10)

His appointment

- called by God to a higher order

- confirmed with an oath

His qualifications

- took on humanity

- holy, undefiled in his humanity

- moved with compassion for sinners

- eternal efficacy of his priesthood

His experience “Son though he was”

- learned the high cost of obedience

- perfected by becoming our Savior
