Building Wisely on the True Foundation
1 Cor. 3:9-23

In this letter, Paul moves from one metaphor to the next to explain what it means
to be a believer and how we can grow in both our personal development and as a
body of believers. Changing to architectural imagery, Paul explains that the
foundation is already laid in Jesus and now we are to build upon it. But how we
build and why is Paul’s central concern in this passage. If you want to build a life or
church with results that last, then build wisely.
1. What foundation am I building on? (3:9-11)
2. What material am I building with? (3:12-15)
3. What kind of building am I building? (3:16-17)
4. What can I do to build wisely? (3:18-23)
