Praying for the Progress of the Gospel

hands

God desires that we pray for the progress of the gospel.  Jesus told His disciples to pray that the Lord of the harvest would send workers into His field. Paul solicits prayer that the “word of the Lord will spread rapidly” (2 Thess 3:1) and “to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel” (Eph 6:19).

Would you come and pray with us for these things to happen in Littleton?

I believe part of the reason God designed hat he would work through Christian prayer is that when we pray for something, it builds a passion inside of us for that item. So when we pray for the progress of the gospel, we becoming increasingly passionate about spreading the gospel ourselves – in turn, accomplishing part of that prayer as the gospel goes forth from us.

Some good quotes on prayer from people fancier than me:

  • John Wesley - "Prayer is where the action is."
  • Andrew Murray - "The man who mobilizes the Christian church to pray will make the greatest contribution to world evangelization in history."
  • E.M. Bounds - "Talking to men for God is a great thing, but talking to God for men is greater still."
  • Oswald Chambers - "Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work."
